Salvia chiapensis

Common Name:

Another fabulous salvia for our climate. This one has glossy green leaves and long sprays of the most amazing magenta pink flowers.  A smaller shrub that can be used for the front of a border. Like all salvias, it is adored by the bees, butterflies and honey eaters. Tip prune to promote bushiness and deadhead to promote further flushes of flowers. I find that I don’t need to cut this one back as hard in Winter. The leaves sometimes tend to develop purple markings if it receives too much shade. This does not seem to affect the plant in our garden.

Flowering Colour: Magenta
