Hibiscus mutabilis

Common Name: Cotton Rose, Confederate Rose

A rounded bushy tall shrub that is deciduous in our garden. While the leaves are a similar shape to Hawaiian hibiscus, they are larger and dull green in appearance. But it’s the flowers that are the showstopper! They emerge white, then age to light pink and then dark pink so ours has all colours at once during flowering. Prune lightly after flowering then every few years give it a good hard prune during Winter.

Flowering Time: Autumn
Flowering Colour: White, pink and dark pink
Position: Full sun
Width: 5m but we keep ours pruned to 3m
Height: 5m but we keep ours pruned to 3m
